History:
Devon and Alyss' father was a dedicated cultist of Hecate. The goddess promised him recompense for his years of devotion and she soon had twins, gifting him the mystical children. Although Baek-Hyeon loved the twins dearly, he died under mysterious circumstances, putting Alyss and Devon into the adoption system in Korea. When the twins were still young, a newly-divorced woman traveled to Korea and fell in love with the pair of infants. While her husband refused to have children with her and treated her poorly, Lola had nothing but love for the orphans. She adopted them and returned to California with them, raising them in L.A. A few years later, Lola began seeing Irene, a British immigrant who traveled to the states for work with her young daughter. The twins loved their mother's girlfriend and welcomed her into the family with open arms when the pair got married. When the pair got into middle school, their demigod abilities began showing up more and more, unbeknownst to them. Another young demigod, Callie Krats, had grown up down the street from them; the three's combined scents eventually lured a monster to Callie's home, where it attacked her and her family. Alyss happened to see the satyr rescue Callie in the aftermath; Aly rushed home and told Devon what she'd seen. The pair are worried for their friend but brush off any notions that they could also be demigods. Months later, the pair were snooping around in their attic and found a box of their biological father's belongings, meant to be given to them when they were older. Alyss claimed a pendant that turned into a magical item the second she touched it. Devon grabbed a pen and journal, flipping to the first page. The magic incantation "γοητεία" scrawled in dark ink sank into his brain, unlocking a sense of purpose. As he enchanted the room, the pen opened into a full-sized mage staff with glowing Alexandrite in the hilt. At the very bottom of the box was a flyer for Camp Half-Blood, the camp they were meant to attend. With both twins activating their magical abilities, monsters in the area were immediately drawn to the house. They destroyed what they could, driving the twins out of their home. In order to keep their family safe, they took off across the country to Camp Half-Blood. Abilities: + Mystiokinesis: Both control over magic via spells and incantations and reality warping (you know, like the Scarlet Witch) **Subsets: Biokinesis (alters organic matter on his body to reflect his current mood/feelings unintentionally) and pyrokinesis (the ability to say an incantation and generate fire from nothing) + Necromancy: This boy can raise the dead, usually only when he's extremely emotional + Umbrakinesis: Dev can both travel via shadows and manipulate them + Mist control: He can make mortals and demigods see things, both presently or in memories Godly gifts: + αίμα του Θεού (Blood of God): Devon's staff, given to him by his late father. It channels his Mystiokinesis into more controlled, more powerful attacks. Unfortunately, Devon cannot use the same spell twice - he must cast it in a different language or alternative command. + Spell book: Though not magical in properties, Devon records all his previously used spells in the pages at the back of the journal. His father's spells and illustrations fill the earlier pages, giving him ideas for what to cast when he reads them. |
